About My Clients

Experiences of trauma and loss can affect one’s self-esteem, self-confidence, and outlook on the future. Coping with a critical illness or disability can be overwhelming. I use a gentle, empathic approach to help people to express their feelings about painful experiences and develop higher self-esteem. Is it too difficult for you to travel to a therapist’s office? I can provide therapy sessions by phone or via online video conferencing.

My Background and Approach

I have over fourteen years of experience providing therapy for adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families. I have specialized training and expertise in working with people affected by trauma, loss, critical illness and disabilities. As a holistic psychotherapist, I use evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Trauma-Focused CBT, as well as complementary approaches, such as art therapy, mindfulness, guided imagery, energy psychology, somatic therapy, and coaching for a healthy lifestyle. I tailor my approach to the unique needs of the individual or family. Please visit my website www.JaniceWilliamsTherapy.com for more information. I will walk beside you on your own unique journey of healing . . . and support your efforts to reach your true potential and have a more fulfilling life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the importance of the arts as a healing modality and a vehicle for promoting social change. For over ten years, I have served in leadership positions at Portals Of Wonder, a nonprofit organization that brings magic, mime, and music to critically ill children, frail elderly, and Holocaust survivors. I also have a passion for writing poetry, plays and fiction, which address humanitarian, social, and environmental issues. As an individual with a chronic neurological condition, I have experienced first hand the importance of holistic approaches to healing. Based on my personal and professional experiences, I believe that overcoming medical challenges can lead to wisdom and growth.
