About My Clients
I enjoy working with clients who identify as LGBTQ +; clients who live with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have a passion for individuals with dual diagnoses as well. I can work across the life span, such as clients of all ages, couples, and individuals. I enjoy making the therapy process feel more like a conversation rather than a sterile clinical experience. I like to design therapy sessions that will be productive and value the client's time.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is simple. I desire to find solutions to the obstacles through empowering and proven therapeutic approaches. I utilize a person-centered, strength-based, and person-in-environment approach to therapy. The interventions I use could improve the self-efficacy of the client. The treatment modalities that I most often use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Emotional Systems Theory, and Person Centered Theory. I have found these theories to be most useful for improvement in client outcomes.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all encounter obstacles in our lives that can be overwhelming and cause much grief. Sometimes we need a little help to overcome the obstacles life has presented to us. I also believe that everyone has the ability to adapt and change if we are given the right tools to assist in overcoming the problems we face in life. I make it my mission to work collaboratively with the client as they are the experts of their own lives. As an active member of the LGBTQAA+ community, I am familiar with a few of the problems often faced by the members of this community. I also actively participate as a positive role model for other members of the LGBTQAA+ community. One way I accomplish this task is I participate in the multiple community events my city offers. Actively participating in these events allows me to meet other members, share ideas for growth of the community, and engage in fruitful and rich conversations with other area members.
