Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Spokane, WA
Veterans and their families are a unique culture of individuals and where my passion lies. As a combat veteran and military spouse, I understand the struggles faced by my brothers/sisters in arms but uniquely understand the struggles of the military family. I would love to help you navigate these unique situations and provide an understanding ear from someone who understands.
I am EMDR trained and currently pursuing my certification in EMDR. EMDR is one of my favorite trauma treatments because it provides more control for the client and less re-traumatization while processing through different types of trauma. EMDR can also be utilized as treatment for anxiety, depression, and borderline personality disorder (BPD).
Experiential therapy is one of the most powerful modalities in family therapy because it is based on the present moment and living the current experience. I received training during my master's program and was provided hands-on learning with this therapy. While it is mainly a family therapy modality, I have found it beneficial in all types of therapy to include individual, couples and group.
As a veteran, I have always been very direct and straight-forward with my clients, friends, and family. CBT is the most widely accepted modality for treating military/veterans because it is structured and direct. My internship was working at the Spokane Vet Center where I treated military, veterans, and their families on a variety of issues.
I have been trained and certified in both Level 1 and Level 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This is my primary modality for couples counseling (of all types) and the couples theory utilized the most. I also like to incorporate a combination of Gottman and EFT depending on the client.
