About My Clients
Shadowed Minds are those clouded by past experiences, traumas, anxieties, and emotional detachment. It is only by acknowledging the darkness that we can walk through the trenches and find the light to brighten our minds and souls. Sometimes the burden can seem too heavy to carry alone, let me help carry the weight with you along your journey of discovering your authentic self beyond the darkness.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a Post-Masters Certificate in Couples Therapy from NorthCentral University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Whitworth University. I started my counseling career in 2008 when I was an instructor in the military, providing counseling and guidance to new recruits for my career. I started my professional counseling journey in 2018 when I started my internship at the Spokane Veterans Center and Whitworth MFT Clinic. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 and 2 Certified) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). I utilize different therapeutic approaches, such as EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, and Experiential Family Therapy, to inform my work with clients and maintain a baseline philosophy that draws heavily from Family Systems training. I also have extensive experience working with Veterans and their families, trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a military veteran, I am strongly passionate about giving back to this unique community of individuals and their families. I have Christian roots but they are not considered "traditional" values because they have adapted and changed based on my life experiences. I believe in creating an open and honest therapeutic relationship with my clients and by creating a safe space to explore life, clients can have the freedom to open up and be honest with themselves.
