I'm quirky, creative, and curious. I know what it is like to grow up feeling different, with a diversity of life experiences.

I start with the brain, and our brains are wired to understand the world in terms of stories. How you tell a story is as important as what the story is about. How you identify and think about characters you encounter in media can tell you a lot about yourself.
Conscious, verbal thought is a small part of all the "thinking" we do. Art is one way to bring underlying themes to the surface where we can think about them deliberately. But art is also a way of thinking without using words, sometimes using color, line, shape and movement is the only way to express a feeling or experience.
A horse is a beautiful majestic creature, and when one interacts with you there is a sense of awe. But horses can also be opinionated, stubborn, quirky, reluctant, many of the same things that might challenge you. Horses don't sit there worrying about these things, they just are who they are. And they can help us see ourselves for the rich beings we are too, strengths and flaws alike.
Being a woman in our culture is difficult. We receive multiple mixed messages. Being a smart woman is even harder. We are expected to "step up," but not "too far" or "too much." We have to work harder, but without "taking up space." It's nice to have a space where you can be a woman, AND smart, AND talented.
Parenting an "out of the box" child can be exhausting. It takes a lot of creativity, time, energy and resources. But the job of being a parent can be so rewarding when you are able to cultivate a vibrant relationship with those people you are nurturing.
I specialize in gifted. Frequently gifted people have issues with Dabrowski's Overexcitibilies which has a lot of crossover with HSPs. Often the experience of the world can be overwhelming and feel like "too much." But you can learn how to make these sensitivities work for you.
