Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA
Attachment wounds lead to feelings of abandonment or rejection. We all deserve to feel like we belong. I am trained in attachment theory, or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is clinically proven as the most effective treatment for couples. I have been an EFT client, and I know how hard yet rewarding this work can be. I love integrating art, mindfulness, or body work with EFT because my clients learn new and deeper ways to feel their emotions and connect with themselves and others.
Divorce is one of the hardest losses we can experience. You may be feeling compounded pain of losing your family, current lifestyle, and identity as a married person. I can help as a therapist or as a key member of your divorce process. I am trained as a Collaborative Divorce coach, and I am a member of the LA Collaborative Family Law Association. Collaborative divorce is the way to honor what you built in your marriage while also developing a durable future for your entire family.
I have extensive experience treating personality disorders and truly enjoy working with the brilliant and creative individuals that I meet who have been saddled with this label. If you have a PD diagnosis, I know that you have likely experienced a great deal of pain and fear in this life. You may been feeling alone or rejected because relationships are not your strong suit. If you are ready to practice vulnerability and learn a new way of connecting to yourself and others, I can help.
I was trained in psychodynamic practice as a student at LMU and intern at Airport Marina Counseling Service. I enjoy integrating the depth-oriented work of psychodynamic theory with art therapy, allowing the subconscious mind to come forward in each session. Through psychodynamic interventions, I can assist you to reveal deep-seated sources of anxiety, blocks around fulfilling your base needs and instincts, and issues with sexual drive. This work often results in a stronger sense of self.
I completed training in EFT with Dr. Silvina Irwin in Los Angeles. I hope to continue my growth as an EFT therapist with advanced training in the coming year. I practice EFT with couples and individuals, and have seen remarkable results in expression of feelings, ability to build connection, and sense of security in relationships. I have been an EFT client myself, and truly believe that this work is a powerful healing tool.
I was trained as an art therapist at Loyola Marymount University, one of the first and most leading schools for art therapy in the US. I participate in research to build the field of art therapy, and I deeply believe in the healing power of art. Both at LMU and as an art historian, I studied the mechanisms by which humans make meaning with visual works, and I discovered that the connection between our lived experiences and the art we enjoy is an integral part of human evolution and health.
