Hello, I have a private psychotherapy practice in Portland. I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety and issues of being & belonging.

Living with anxiety or panic is like having a terrorizing bully on the inside. Anxiety can be overwhelming and lead us to avoid things like socializing, activities with family/friends, and living to our full potential. Some people engage in unhelpful behaviors trying to keep anxiety at bay; many others find their world shrinking more and more. Please don't spend another day letting anxiety win. Together, we can find root causes and work to build tools that will help you get your life back.
Some of my clients have a family legacy of trauma, and are on a healing path to protect their children and future generations. Others have single-event or complex trauma that wreaks havoc in their lives. Trauma is stored in the brain-body and cannot truly heal through talk therapy or Hakomi. Methods like EMDR, SE, and Lifespan Integration (LI) are needed. I am LI- and EMDR-trained, and have helped clients finally leave traumatic events behind.
Disordered anxiety is like living with a cruel adversary on the inside. It is often very disruptive and isolating. If you experience anxiety, panic, anxiety-driven compulsions or social phobia, you are not alone, and help is available. I tailor treatment to suit each unique situation. In treating the mind-body (i.e. over-active fight-flight response) as well as thought patterns that reinforce suffering, we can help you get better.
Life offers us many transition moments which are fertile ground for existential work. Growing up, moving out, moving on, career changes, starting a family, partnering, divorce, a terminal diagnosis, etc. Transition points invite deeper examination of identity, purpose and meaning. They can also be stressful and isolating. I love assisting clients as they rediscover passionate connection to their values and purpose, while allowing life dreams to gently transform and evolve.
Viktor Frankl (psychiatrist and Nazi death camp survivor) created Logotherapy, which focuses on life's meaning as paramount: if we have a "why" in life, nearly any "how" can be endured. For Frankl, lack of meaning is a modern affliction that creates an existential void. We fill this void variously, with anything from addiction to angsty weekend paralysis. Exploring your values, longings and life dreams can help you move closer to your truest self, sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.
I am trained in Hakomi Psychology, an experiential, mindfulness-based therapy that allows you to explore your Self and psyche using the wisdom and dream language of the body. Hakomi is a powerful modality that offers an efficient path to accessing our innermost feelings, unmet needs, fears and wishes. I use EMDR and Lifespan Integration (LI) help clients process single-event and complex-trauma. Like EMDR, LI helps the brain-body system heal old wounds by moving trauma out of short-term memory systems to long-term storage so the body can understand it is truly over. LI adds to this by helping create a more cohesive autobiographical narrative through reviewing the life story year by year. Please talk with me about these ways of working if you believe you might benefit.
