AKA Rogerian therapy; Rogers believed similarly to Maslow, but also believed that the pathway to this actualization is a fertile environment where unconditional positive regard and transparency are present in the room. I am a natural cheerleader of people.
A fan of Abraham Maslow, I view client experience as one that, cultural contexts aside, has universal elements across all people when it comes to issues of purpose and meaning, life, esteem, aging, and death.
As an addiction professional for over 10 years, MI is a foundational method of helping a client move toward change.
For 10 years I have worked with addiction treatment. Much of my experience is working at an all women's treatment facility as a counselor, a program manager, and a director. This includes working with co-occurring disorders that often are part of the puzzle when solving issues of addiction.
Nothing is so nefarious as the bully that we find installed inside ourselves. I have experience working with people in the coming out process and working to resolve the internalized homophobia that we're not often aware of.
I have worked with a wide variety of relationship structures with clients that include ethical non-monogamy, poly relationships, relationship anarchy, etc.
