I'm certified in Relational Life Therapy, aiming to meet couples where you're at, to understand & connect, & identify the patterns you’re stuck in to help guide you out of that pattern into a more functional one. We’ll work on this by relationally embodying “full respect living” in sessions. We’re aiming for living w/ integrity: what often evolves is a deep, fundamental characterological transformation: a change (for the better!) in who — & how — you think you can be (with yourself & others).
Through my Focusing & Indigenous Focusing Oriented Therapy methods, we can use the "felt sense" to get in touch w/ what our body is telling us - how it has a sense of "knowing" where we are stuck, or where we might like to go, that often doesn't even need words. Talk therapy can do a lot, but in many cases, we can feel like we hit a wall. Somatic approaches including cultivating the felt sense, engaging the right brain & limbic system, & working with body-based approaches can be transformative.
I've been mentored in mindfulness meditation practices by clinical psychologist & Insight Meditation Society co-founder & Spirit Rock Meditation Center founder Jack Kornfield, Ph.D. & has also been a mindfulness student of clinical psychologist and Insight Meditation Community of Washington, D.C. founder Tara Brach, Ph.D. Francesca has sat in silent retreat cumulatively for several months. I often integrate mindfulness teachings to help support ways of working with challenging experiences.
I'm certified in Somatic Experiencing & other trauma modalities. Dr. Peter Levine of Somatic Experiencing says, "trauma is a fact of life but it doesn't have to be a life sentence." It could be an accident, assault, or natural disaster, or it can also be developmental: that our needs as a child weren't met in the way we would have liked and needed to feel safe, seen and soothed - & secure. I'm happy to support you on making sense of the past so you can live more fully in the present w/ ease.
