Grieving a death, or the loss of a relationship, or something else held dear is not just painful but isolating: you may feel like you're "supposed" to be "getting over it," when in fact you are more in pain than ever. I don't have a timeline for your grief. I understand that healing takes time and can feel unfathomable, and I will meet you where you are while also holding on to hope.
Even the most "uncomplicated" pregnancy can feel like anything but! You may be managing family stress; dealing with changes in your body; navigating and preparing for new dynamics with your partner; and experiencing fear, sadness, and anxiety (with or without those other more "socially acceptable" emotions like happiness and excitement). It's so important to connect with others during pregnancy, which is why I offer a weekly pregnancy support group designed to provide community and support.
Many couples come to therapy to address communication issues, though in my experience things are rarely as simple as just figuring out the "right way" to talk to each other. Perhaps your interactions have become tense, or you find yourself having the same arguments over and over. Or maybe things have gotten so strained between you that you barely feel safe or comfortable talking at all. Couples therapy can be both painful and joyful; it is a chance to heal, reconnect, and rediscover intimacy.
