About My Clients

I work with multiracial couples and individuals from diverse backgrounds who seek to heal the emotional impacts of trauma and build more fulfilling relationships. My clients often have complex non-linear lives and have often grown up in "less than ideal" families, whose life path don’t easily fit into a box or have experienced marginalization or intergenerational trauma. I support you to move through difficult emotional challenges, resentments, and repetitive arguments, to peace and ease.

My Background and Approach

Need someone who can keep up with the complexity of your situation? Or someone who can be sensitive and challenging at the same time? I am an attuned therapist who pays attention to you at multiple levels. For me, complexity is norm! Some unique things I bring to you: I am a licensed therapist who began with 18 years background as a Feldenkrais Practitioner for chronic pain, which works with the mind/body relationship to promote change; I have extensive study in mind/body approaches to trauma and healing relationships; I work from a theory on emotional change for couples and individuals that can be deeply transformational, that is totally NOT one size fits all. I have additional studies in cross cultural issues in relationships, as well as in systems centered approaches that look at the psychological impact of marginalization. I am continually growing and learning to support you. I work with nonverbal and verbal aspects of therapy including embodied emotion.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that change is possible! While we don't chose the family we grew up in, or the world around us, therapy can teach us how to not live "conditioned" by the past, and instead find empowerment within. "Symptoms" that show up as depression, tears, anxiety or frustration often have their root in real situations in the world. Yet as we transform our relationship to our emotions, and our capacity to connect more effectively in the world and those we care for, we have the potential to feel we can make a difference, rather than repeat the same patterns. This leads to greater joy, fulfillment, and authenticity. How can we flow with life, build resiliency, and manage injustice, and be fulfilled? These are important questions. As a therapist, I support you in learning the emotional skills so you can live most authentically in the way that's right for you.
