About My Clients
Because you're here searching for someone to partner with on your healing journey, it means you have already come so far. Reaching out for therapy takes a lot of self-awareness and a sense that it's possible for life to feel different. You're right. It may not feel like it yet, but you already contain within you all the instinctual wisdom you need in order to heal. As a somatic therapist, I can support you in following these subtle embodied instincts towards well-being.
My Background and Approach
As a somatic therapist, I honor the body as a profound source of knowing that can help us heal from depression, anxiety, trauma, oppression, and many other struggles. In our work together, I will support you in bringing awareness to the ways your body’s stress response can shape your emotions and thoughts, and we will collaborate to create new felt experiences of safety and “selfness.” At your own pace, we might experiment with grounding, breath, memory, imagery, movement, or art, or practice new ways of being in relationship. As we become able to access inner safety and trust an inner knowing, we can transform our relationships with ourselves, find more fulfillment and freedom in relationships, and experience the world in new ways.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is rooted in warm, collaborative presence and in a deep commitment to dismantling the traditional hierarchical therapeutic relationship. I have also been through pain and struggle and I came to this work through my own experience of finding healing through somatics. I do not see myself as the expert on your life, but as a fellow traveler and facilitator and I am inspired by your path. I am a white queer cis woman and I love working with straight and queer folks and people of all identities. My work draws on my experience in racial justice movement work and the teachings of the natural world and I am inspired by surrender, creative expression, the ocean, and the wild.
