I am Erica, a queer relational somatic/EMDR therapist that focuses on anxiety, anger, grief, trauma, holistic and spiritual health
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Oakland, CA
I have studied Hakomi method, a mind-body integrative approach that utilizes mindfulness and attachment theory to study and discover the healing inside of you. Hakomi believes in following the process, that you have everything you need inside of you to heal. My main practice is influenced by Hakomi, called Relational Somatic Healing, with similar basic tenets but incorporates craniosacral, mindbody centering and a more relational approach.
I am a graduate of the JFKU somatic psychotherapy program, and have a certificate from relationalsomatichealing.com. My practice is framed in incorporating the body into our process through safe somatic touch, movement and mindfulness practices. We hold unexpressed emotions, trauma, and parts of ourselves in our body, and if we can slow down together we can begin to make shifts in our entire constitution.
I am an attachment oriented therapist, which is the science of bonding and safety. As an attachment therapist, I work in the moment, in our relationship, working to create a safe relationship for you to explore your full self. I believe deeply in the power of therapy in rewiring our systems to be oriented towards cultivating more fulfilling relationships in our lives.
As a queer therapist who has studied and been immersed in queer community and resources, I take a non judgmental approach to being with all of the intersecting issues our community faces. This includes issues around gender, sex work, racism, classism, misogyny, ableism, fatphobia, etc.
I am a relational & attachment oriented therapist, meaning I frame everything I do in these paradigms. As a somatic oriented attachment therapist we will explore early issues around bonding, how they show up in the body and how they affect your current interpersonal connections. I sues safe somatic touch and movement to get us out of our heads and into the somatic mind, the body and bring safety into the attachment system.
As a somatic therapist, I specialize in treating anxiety, regulating the nervous system and bringing safety into the body. I myself had debilitating anxiety in my twenties that was cured by a similar somatic process to what I use, so I am a big believer in the work. I believe anxiety is curable over time and with diligence, that it is possible to get off the meds and eventually live a life that is anxiety -free.
