About My Clients
I work with lots of different types of people who struggle with a variety of issues - panic, low self worth, existential struggles, & pain. I am passionate and enjoy supporting people who are active participants in their own health and wellness. I find it helpful to focus on building skills, challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, but also in cultivating positivity and connection. Creativity allows us to see new possibilities for ourselves and our life. :)
My Background and Approach
Over the years I have developed up quite a few different tools and methods. I continue to stay connected to research and attend trainings that teach leading edge techniques. I value learning! I believe it is important to establish a safe and positive therapeutic relationship - that in itself can be healing - especially for those who struggle to share their inner worlds. You need to feel safe in order to do deeper and more challenging work. Depending upon needs & preferences, I’ll use a variety of different tools to support you. We start in the here-and-now to help build the necessary skills needed prior to moving deeper. Together, we can explore different pathways to healing. When working with kids, I like to collaboratively work with the parent in understanding & supporting their child’s wellbeing & growth. I am gentle, direct, supportive, reflective, thoughtful, creative, playful & open. I am a natural helper & deeply care about those I work with.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Mental health is vitally important and it directly impacts our physical health (and vice versa). Unfortunately, our culture(s) don’t always value this. It can become compounded when we internalize negative messages from family/culture/society and learn unhealthy behaviors/ thinking patterns from others. Sometimes these patterns exist for good reasons, but are just no longer helpful. There’s no judgement. I believe one can re-train themself, and their brain, to allow more love, creativity, and joy in - something our world desperately needs. I recognize it takes guts and a commitment (to yourself) to be in therapy and work to end the stigma around mental health issues. I engage with the women’s movement, suicide awareness, eco/environmental & sustainability practices & the student debt crisis. I actively embrace all cultures and enjoy differences. I love hiking with my dog, gardening, creating art and yoga. If you have any questions - message me.
