Depression and anxiety may be brand new for you in the stresses of this past year. You are not alone and you don't have to wait for help.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Sacramento, CA
From graduate school to the present, my training and work is focused on making sure that you are able to respond well in the "here-and-now". Mindfulness therapy is all about that. It's easy to think that you have to be an experienced meditator to be "mindful". This is not true! In my therapy, I teach you how to get the benefits of mindfulness in your everyday life, in practical, usable ways, so that you have the tools whenever you need them.
Using my experience and expertise in a variety of treatment modalities, I have spent my career supporting people like you to overcome the impact of trauma. This includes sexual trauma, attachment trauma (or complex PTSD), racial trauma, medical trauma, and incident trauma. I use Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, parts work, and other modalities to facilitate healing.
I trained in this incredible healing approach as soon as I finished school, deepening my skills and knowledge of how to include our physical, body experience in therapy for deeper, lasting healing. If you're like the folks I typically work with, you already know a lot about what is going on that isn't working for you. If knowing and talking about it was enough, you might not even be looking for a therapist. Using this treatment, I help you actually experience how it feels to live differently.
When you have experienced sexual trauma, it is crucial to work with someone who understands the complexity and depth of how your life and sense of yourself can be impacted. I work with you to begin the process of feeling safer in your body and in your relationships, to regain confidence and trust with those around you and with yourself. I create a caring, non-judgmental place where I bring many years of training in body-based trauma healing approaches, mindfulness, and relationship focus.
If it is difficult to feel as though your needs and wants matter, if you aren't sure that what you are experiencing is "bad enough" to receive support, if you know how it feels to have "imposter syndrome", always waiting for someone to find out that you aren't measuring up, I can help. In therapy, we learn together what it is that you need to feel comfortable and courageous enough to be in your own skin.
I have been working with the full spectrum of anxiety disorders throughout my career, including general anxiety, OCD, panic, and phobias. I have knowledge and training in the modalities that have been shown to be the most effective in reducing anxiety and improving your quality of life so you can focus on the things that matter most. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness-based skills to calm the body.
