About My Clients
I frequently see young adults in college or post-college, adults with stressful jobs such as teaching, professorships, business ownership, and medical professions. I also frequently see children and adolescents struggling in school socially and/or academically, parents of these children, couples wanting to improve their relationship, blended families, and people adjusting to divorce.
My Background and Approach
My approach is collaborative, authentic, empathetic, and accepting. There are times when my clients have symptoms that are difficult to deal with and I am knowledgeable of many techniques that I can teach them to relieve your symptoms. For example, two techniques I find helpful are mindfulness and thought challenging. My skills are drawn from several evidenced-based therapies such as CBT, Solution-Focused, Narrative Therapy, ACT, ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), and Gottman.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in being honest and open with my clients and will readily own up to my mistakes. I take a non-knowing stance with my clients, which means that I won't assume that I know something before my client has told me and they will experience me asking clarifying questions to draw out their inner thoughts, which is in itself therapeutic. I believe in the necessity for my clients to make their own decisions so will not push my ideas on them but instead aid them in determining the direction for your own lives.
