My Background and Approach
I am a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist and have trained with many leaders in the field of sex addiction, like Dr. Patrick Carnes. My recovery served as the impetus for me to become a psychotherapist. I have focused on addiction therapy and, since 2004, have been specializing in treating sexual addiction. Personally, I understand the complexities of treating sex and porn addiction. I want you to know that there is help; you can overcome these issues with hard work, commitment, and expert support. I will collaborate with you to create a treatment plan for your situation using my professional training and clinical experience. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone can change. You are not stuck, even if it feels that way at this moment. Most of the time, I think it is about getting the right information and the right help. With new information, we have new possibilities. I feel the genesis of most addictions is some underlying pain that we don't know how to cope with, so we escape to any addiction that works for us, but we know this is changeable. With all the current brain studies, we can see that the brain is quite plastic, so we can change our lives. It takes some work, but you can do it with the correct tools and perspective. And I know that therapy works. That is what I get to see in doing my work. I want you to know that you can overcome sex and porn addiction with the right tools and support. I am also experienced as a betrayal trauma therapist and can help you support your partner in healing so you can save your relationship. It is essential to have both aspects accounted for in your treatment.
