About My Clients
I want to acknowledge the amount of bravery it takes to seek out psychotherapy. In my own experience finding the right therapist can feel like entering a specific dating pool which often results in feelings of frustration and hopelessness. It would be a great privilege and honor to be the clinician that ends someone’s search. My priority is for each of my clients to feel seen, understood, supported, and not alone as they work through some of the most difficult aspects of their life.
My Background and Approach
In my work I strive to facilitate a judgment-free space where people can explore their life experiences-- both positive as well as traumatic, to better understand who they are, where they’ve come from, and where they want to be. My style of practice is one of openness and acceptance that includes the empathy to provide a difficult ‘push’ when necessary. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth, or more, it is my goal to help you feel secure in your journey towards healing. My approach to therapeutic interventions is one that is entirely based on the individuality and needs of the person I am working with. With my clients I collaboratively tailor aspects of CBT, trauma-focused CBT, strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy to help them meet their goals. I can also provide instruction in body-mind coping mechanisms such as mindfulness and breathing exercises. I am an LMSW who graduated from New York University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We all deserve to live happy, healthy, and fulfilled lives. Unfortunately, experiences of trauma are unavoidable, and sometimes those experiences make us feel like we are stuck, unable to make progress, or achieve real healing. No matter what that uncompassionate voice inside of us says, we are not beyond progress and healing. We all have our personal struggles that we face and often these struggles are from forces completely beyond our immediate control. Because of that we all deserve to be heard and supported in the ways that we need while also being held accountable for our mistakes. As a white, male presenting individual I continually seek to keep awareness of the power and positioning I that hold in comparison to those with more marginalized identities. While I am far from perfect and am open to necessary feedback, I prioritize doing my own 'work', so my clients do not have to do it for me.
