About My Clients
The patient with whom I'm an ideal fit is the patient who is ready to dig deep, look in the mirror, & have hard conversations. My typical patient is tough, resilient, funny, & perhaps a little stubborn. Despite these strengths, they repeatedly feel they can't seem to stabilize their lives or be "good enough" for the people around them. They can't get their insides to gel with the mask they outwardly wear. All they want, however, is peace, and they're ready to do the work to get that peace.
My Background and Approach
I provide outpatient, individual psychotherapy to adults. I use a psychodynamic framework, which emphasizes relationships, optimal functioning, self-concepts, & how our childhoods and/or trauma experiences become roadmaps for our muscle memory. I'm known for being a therapist who fuses equal parts warmth & firmness. I'm non-judgmental, but I have high expectations for my patients - because I fundamentally believe in them. My patients describe a love/hate relationship with therapy, because it’s equally painful & rewarding. It likely helps that I’m a believer that humor & spicy language can benefit the therapeutic process. I primarily treat trauma/PTSD, grief, stress, life transitions, & depression. I specialize in treating individuals in high stakes occupations (e.g., those where a license, clearance, or position/reputation may make them reticent to go to therapy…such as military members, medical professionals, therapists, aviators, first responders, & executives).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our team strongly ascribes to an apolitical posture when developing new therapeutic relationships. We are particularly passionate about providing military culturally competent care to service members, veterans, & their loved ones, & we are interested in the intersectionality of identities of military-connected individuals. Our clinic is a professional, welcoming environment to all individuals - irrespective of beliefs & values, & we are guided by a belief in the autonomy & agency of our patients. Resultantly, our patients represent a wide continuum of ideologies, & I pride our clinic's ability to equally meet the needs of individuals from all backgrounds. We draw boundaries based on unhealthy &/or malignant behaviors - not background or belief.
