About My Clients
I specialize in helping Baby Boomers and Gen Xers. The world has changed so much but not the way you thought it would. You have the home and have had at least one career. The nest is empty and while grandchildren are great, they may not provide the meaning you seek. Are your relationships in order? What needs to be resolved? Now is the time to address any issues which have plagued your or have been hidden away in a deep part of yourself. Who do you need to forgive? Who do you need to thank?
My Background and Approach
I have a Masters in Public Health (Health education) and more recently, a Masters in Counseling from Palo Alto University. I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. While I have my own practice, I am being supervised by Mary Crocker Cook, M.F.T. My approach is person-centered: you are the expert on you. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as it has helped me tremendously. I also look at things from an attachment perspective. I believe addictions arise as a way to cope when our attachment figures are not reliable, or are abusive. These issues can be addressed with self-compassion and using the therapeutic relationship to heal the attachment issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a white woman who has lived a life of privilege. There are certain life experiences I have not had. Having grown up in California, my values are liberal and I hope to cultivate a therapy practice which is inclusive to all. I have a background is sexual health and education. I don't mind talking about sexual issues, practices or concerns. I am a spiritual person. I believe the Universe is abundant and benevolent. If spirituality is not your bag, that's fine with me.
