About My Clients

Clients are engaged, open to change, and willing to take responsibility. During sessions, David creates an open and nonjudgmental space to help clients explore, problem-solve, and process their concerns. David applies skills like mindfulness and grounding techniques in session. Clients working with David can expect to explore intrapersonal processes, set healthy boundaries, advocate for themselves in their relationships, and learn emotional regulation in order to commit to valued actions.

My Background and Approach

In my therapy practice, I use the following evidence-based approaches: ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy), Marriage and Family therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused therapy), Substance Use therapy (including harm reduction for any addictive issues), Relationship counseling, Trauma-informed therapy, Grief and Loss therapy, Exposure therapy, mindfulness-based therapy and DBT (Dialectical Behavior therapy). I work with a wide range of clients and have experience working with: PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, depression, ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), grief and loss, relationship issues, marriage counseling, parenting, children/adolescents, family counseling, substance/addiction issues, bipolar, sexual identity concerns, personality disorders and psychotic disorders. Areas of improvement: eating disorders, borderline personality, fertility issues and autism/learning disabilities.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I consider myself to be an ally of the LGBTQ community, sex-positive/kink friendly, body positive, 12-step friendly, an advocate for feminism and a supporter of racial justice/equity. I welcome people of all faiths, creeds, backgrounds, races, ethnic groups and sexual identities. Here are some of my personal core values that I hope to bring to therapy sessions: Awareness, Creativity, Wisdom, Connection, Inspiration, Joy, Freedom, Love, Justice and Humor. For me, one of the most important qualities of therapy is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space in order to explore issues where we may experience guilt, shame, denial, distress, confusion and/or embarrassment.
