About My Clients
As a trauma-informed practitioner with extensive training in LGBTQIA+ affirmative counseling, I welcome teens, young adults, and couples of all backgrounds to navigate positive identity and relationship formation, anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation. Many of my clients are interested in exploring family-of-origin and attachment trauma, and inner-child work.
My Background and Approach
Seeking help can be overwhelming, and you are incredibly brave for taking the first step. It is my privilege to join you on your path and help you create an atmosphere of trust and nonjudgment where we can explore what brings you through the door each week. I provide a space for people to reflect, heal and grow into their best selves, knowing that life does not always unfold as neatly as we expect. My approach to psychotherapy is deeply rooted in psychodynamic and attachment theories. I also integrate practical techniques from a variety of methods including Mindfulness, Polyvagal, and Internal Family Systems Theories, so you begin to feel more empowered and peaceful in your daily life while we explore your deeper story. I have a clinical interest in working with teen clients and supporting people of all ages with inner-child work and family-of-origin trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My experience as an intern therapist is enhanced by my background as an attorney and divorce and family mediator. I also have experience as a domestic violence and sexual assault counselor. I have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and integrate Gottman Method Couples Therapy during my work with couples. I am in the final year of my Master’s Degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Therapy is a collaborative process, so finding a therapist you feel is the right fit for you is essential. If you think we may work well together, or you still have more questions, I would encourage you to reach out to me– I would love to learn more about what brings you to therapy and to discuss how I may be able to help. To schedule an appointment or consultation with me, you can email me at [email protected], or reach out to me by phone at 703-942-9236. My supervisor at Falls Church Wellness Center is Shannon Graves, LPC.
