About My Clients
I love working with individuals who are looking to change in whatever way they determine important, but aren't quite sure how to get there. I love facilitating a client's journey, rather than telling them what to do. Therapy is all about connection. I believe a client knows if a therapeutic relationship is possible within the first few minutes of meeting
My Background and Approach
For 4 years I worked in the medical social work field. Since November of 2019, I have been practicing in individual work. I have fallen in love with the long-term therapeutic process and genuinely enjoy meeting with my clients. In my sessions, I generally utilize an eclectic combination of approaches, including solutions focused, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, DBT, feminist theory and person-in-environment theory. We will work together to give you practical, everyday tools to utilize in order to quiet symptoms and keep you from functioning in survival mode.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Every single person has inherent worth. Every one. I am an active ally for the LGBTQIA+ community, and have been involved in Black Lives Matter movement. I also believe in harm-reduction strategies when it comes to maladaptive habits. There are no "bad" coping skills, just survival skills we have utilized to survive our lives, and THAT is incredibly brave.
