Hi, I'm Coriann! I look forward to working with you! Let's do this together.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in ,
I often incorporate CBT practices such as challenging cognitive distortions, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), or mindfulness approaches that are specifically tailored to each client.
I have extensive history working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma. I hold a certificate of proficiency in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I understand how vital it is to use a trauma-informed approach when helping individuals navigate their experiences.
Whether you are navigating the coming out process, desiring to find community, or wanting to expand your understanding of the nuances of diverse relationships and experiences, I provide an affirming space to be completely yourself.
I often utilize mindfulness approaches to increase awareness and acceptance of feelings. I also believe in externalizing emotions to reduce shame/stigma about emotional expression.
I consider various systems that each person experiences in order to see the bigger picture. Each person is influenced by their family, community, school, location, etc. We are all affected by the world around us, and often our family systems are templates we use for other relationships.
I believe that people are the experts of their own lives, and they have the power to rewrite their story. I utilize Narrative Therapy to externalize problems (i.e. problems are outside of a person's identity) in order to reduce stigma and shame about emotional expression. Similarly to a systems approach, Narrative therapy considers how the dominant culture and family/local influences impact well-being.
