About My Clients
Most men would rather go to the dentist than the therapist. I work with a lot of men who would rather not be in my office, so my goal is to make therapy a valuable process for both partners. Much of what I do in a session is designed to ensure that each partner is heard and understood. We’ll work together to create a model that empowers both of you equally.
My Background and Approach
After 20 years of experience working with couples of all types, my passion is helping people catch a vision for what their lives and relationships can be. My approach to therapy is solution-oriented, direct, and practical. I work to make the sessions hopeful and future-focused, but I also tailor my approach to the client so that it's not a one size fits all therapy. I will almost always send you home with something to do or something to read because I know that much of the work of change is done between sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
If you feel like things could be better, you’re probably right. In fact, I believe that almost any couple with the right skill set and commitment level can create a great relationship. For our work to be successful, you provide the commitment, and I’ll help you develop the skill set. I believe that most marriages can be saved. I've also been around long enough to know that some cannot and some should not be saved. I'm always going to work for the relationship first unless safety is an issue, but when the decision to end a relationship is made, I believe that there are healthy ways to do that as well. I want to help people get that most out of those relationships and not settle for good enough. Even though I'm new here to Tulsa, I've been working with people from all walks of life for a long time now so I've developed a large variety of tools to share with you as you look to make these changes.
