About My Clients

My passion lies in working with adults who possess curiosity and openness to explore their inner workings, relationships, and environments. This deep self-exploration and discovery are supported with trauma-informed care that focuses on relational trauma and attachment injury repairs. I specialize in Asian American mental health, including racial identity issues, multicultural challenges, intergenerational trauma, and relationship issues. I also work with Asian transracial/intercountry adoptees.

My Background and Approach

I have been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2012. I got Master's in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University, and I completed my internship working with a mobile crisis team that focused on substance use treatment. I then received supervision as a counselor at a therapeutic foster care agency, where I worked with foster children, foster families, and biological families. Upon earning my license, I worked for two community mental health agencies, which provided invaluable experiences in working with adults of marginalized populations, ranging in ages, life challenges, and diagnoses. As I transitioned to my private practice in November 2020, I felt a deep sense of duty and responsibility to focus my services and support to the Asian immigrant and Asian-American communities. I am trauma-informed, culturally-inclusive, and justice-oriented. I integrate various modalities for individualized needs, built on attachment theory, mindful self-compassion, and parts work.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I support Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, LGBTQ rights, women's rights, healthcare rights, and neurodiversity. I stand firmly against racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, and science-denial. However, I have the capacity for empathy and understanding of the root of other people's beliefs and values, especially seeing them through the lenses of trauma (historical, intergenerational, societal/systemic, and personal). I can work with clients of differing beliefs and values, but I find it important to be fully transparent and allow potential clients to decide if they can work with me.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
