About My Clients
Feeling stuck and struggling to move forward from a relationship, job, or the death of a loved one? Or was it caused by any of the forty other losses that a person might experience such as moving, pet loss, or chronic illness? You are not alone. I help individuals move forward with new perspectives and tools that more closely align with their values and goals.
My Background and Approach
Utilizing my education as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my training, and my personal experience has proven to be most effective in providing my clients with empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of dealing with grief. I have worked as a Hospice Social Worker for 16 years. I am a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, Fellow in Thanatology, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist in addition to being trained in Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy. My approach is using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic, and EMDR. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, with the client being the expert on his/her own life and the therapist being the resource to help with specific tools for the grief journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I remain very passionate about the topics of grief and loss, while continuing to provide education to professionals at the State NASW Conference, students, and the community. I believe that the focus of grief therapy is to find meaning in your own life, while honoring the relationship you grieve. I make it a point to participate in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention walks. In my spare time, I enjoy competitive swimming. and hosting international exchange students.
