About My Clients

Sometimes life feels like a rerun: reliving the trauma through nightmares, flashbacks, or reminders, and always feeling on edge. You're exhausted because you can't sleep and catch yourself snapping at others without even really knowing why. You want to be left alone but also crave closeness and understanding. Trauma makes everything after confusing and frustrating. It's hard to feel stuck and not know the way out- with some bravery and some work you can find the exit.

My Background and Approach

I have an eclectic background in almost every aspect of counseling- from family and couples to prisons, individual work, and inpatient addiction. I grew up with military and first responders so I have intimate knowledge of those worlds. Whether civilian or first responder my ultimate goal is that you don't have to work too hard to explain yourself. I am client centered which means that I don't take an authority approach but one of partner in exploring the things that hurt and helping you find the way out. I am biopsychosocial- I often sprinkle in anatomy and biology, which I believe is an integral part of understanding what is going on- and in offloading shame and guilt. I work with you to make a plan that pulls from multiple approaches so that we can work through your difficulties as quickly and as gently as possible. I am a strength based therapist- I believe that your defenses were useful and smart to survive whatever happened but no longer useful once out of that place

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Buddhism
  • Christianity
  • Wicca/Paganism
