About My Clients
My clients enter therapy often because of something terrible that happened. It’s hard to find a therapist you “click” with so many clients come in with some healthy skepticism, ready to work, or just ready for a change. My job is to help you explore and heal how your past experiences are showing up in your daily life and relationships. More recently, I've been focusing on anti bias/racism work and how oppression specifically impacts transracial adoptees and their families.
My Background and Approach
My career started working with women and families moving out of domestic violence and homelessness. Since then, I've been trained in Adoption Competency, trauma-focused CBT, and Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR. The therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy to me. My main goal is to ensure the people I work with feel safe and empowered so they can do the hard work of healing. To do that, I use a lot of humor and a bit of sarcasm, especially for teens who may not be there by choice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Things that are important to me are kindness, anti-racism, inclusion. Also my family, coffee, and dogs.
