About My Clients

People seek therapy when they need things to change. A trusting therapeutic relationship is one that creates a safe holding space in which people can explore and confront difficult issues. My approach is compassionate and personalized and represents a collaboration between you and me to address your needs in the way that is comfortable for you. I have expertise in treating depression and anxiety, relationship problems, anger issues, trauma, stress, life transitions, and substance use disorders.

My Background and Approach

My approach is based on evidence based psychotherapy practices. I put a lot of effort into staying informed and educated about the latest research about psychotherapy effectiveness. In addition, I put a lot of effort into my own perpetual self-improvement as a therapist. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and incorporate Emotion Focused Therapy, CBT, Schema Therapy and some Dialectical Behavior therapy. Often included are mindfulness, experiential exercises, values work, emotional processing, skills training, personalized outcomes measures. My approach is active, compassionate and practical.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I identify as a secular humanist and have attended Buddhist meditation practices over the years. I aspire to use of Nonviolent Communication techniques. I have been active with Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and I support BLM, Indivisible, and SURJ.
