About My Clients
Have you just gotten out of college and can't stop stressing about what is next? Are you and your partner wondering what's next? Have you found yourself in a time of transition and don't know where to go from here? Do you find yourself growing increasingly more anxious? Have you had small or large trauma's in your life that you can't seem to move past? By working together, we can get through this. I am comfortable working with individuals, couples, and families to get you there.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in structural and systemic family therapy. I began my therapeutic career entrenched in helping individuals and families struggling with substance abuse addiction. I am very comfortable helping individuals overcoming addiction, and through that work have become very well versed in all areas of mental health. My private practice work has given me the opportunity to work in other areas, and have allowed me to grow my knowledge to help my clients. I enjoy coming together with my clients to help them grow and learn about who they are. I am an EMDR trained therapist- and commonly utilize this intervention. I always focus on my clients strengths, to help them move towards the future they want. I am comfortable working with clients with complex trauma, gender questioning, sexuality questioning, and non-normative relationships. By coming together collaboratively we will find what works for you. I am trained in multiple therapeutic techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone can use a little support sometimes. I am not of the mindset that therapy is a forever commitment unless necessary and always strive to have my session be a safe space. I enjoy talking with my clients and getting to know them and allowing my clients to get to know me. I support organizations that work to end the stigma of mental health and addiction. I am a forever learner and encourage my clients to challenge me. I like to ask questions when I don't know something and don't pretend to be an expert when I am not. I won't judge you, and promise to laugh when things are funny, and to support you when things suck. I am married, have a wonderfully rambunctious daughter, and am a very proud pitbull momma. I support many pit bull advocacy groups as well. I agree that marriage, kids, and dogs aren't for everyone and promise to never force any of my opinions on you. Except that you should get a dog...today....why don't you have a dog yet? Just playing. Promise!
