My therapeutic practice is centered on using the relationship that we develop as the vehicle for healing and growth. I work to help you heal from traumas, losses, or other life challenges, foster your self-understanding, provide insight to make connections you might not have seen, and empower you to move forward in ways that feel authentic to you. While I draw from various theories and approaches as needed, I operate primarily from a psychodynamic orientation. Broadly, this means that in addition to examining your current situation, we explore how your past and your significant relationships inform how you experience it, looking especially to understand where you feel conflicted or confused. My training in clinical social work and doctorate in existential philosophy allow me to hold space for complexity and nuance, helping you make sense of your challenges while not reducing them to any single solution or perspective. Instead, we find and generate possibilities.

As a queer and trans identified clinician, I know the pain and psychological damage that can result from unqualified and unethical therapy that feigns knowledge of what is “best” for LGBQ+ and trans/gender-expansive clients. I draw from life experience and ongoing professional development to provide affirming care and, perhaps more importantly, hold that you are the expert of your identity and lived experience. As a clinical social worker, I am attuned to how societal marginalization, discrimination, and power and privilege can be deeply imbued in the challenges that you face. I strive to own my various privileges when I can and to hear and value your life’s truths, no matter how similar or different we may be.
