About My Clients
Do you feel lost in your thoughts? Are you losing a sense of purpose? Utilizing openness and a therapy style crafted for each unique client, I will work with you to find your true self. I specialize in working with clients who are struggling with stress, giftedness, sexual and gender identity, creativity, the arts, boundaries, anxiety, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, and depression.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about not only building on the practical aspects of counseling such as coping skills and self-care, but also gaining insight to find your own answers to your struggles and a deeper connection and awareness of the self. I do research that explores gender and sexual orientation as well as mood disorders. In my developmental work, I enjoy collaborating within the whole family system. I am comfortable working with clients struggling on the spectrum from mild hurdles to major mental disorders. I empower clients to build guidance and compassion within themselves. I will help you through your current difficulties, explore your true self, promote love and acceptance, and find a sense of purpose. I believe in cutting through the unproductive aspects of therapy and connecting genuinely with clients. Safety, acceptance, and groundedness are important to me. Take a deep breath and give yourself permission to focus on you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a lifelong advocate for people of all identities. I grew up in a political family, and from a young age I reckoned with the deep injustices that run through our society. I come to therapy with an open heart, humbled knowing that I don't know everything. I am humbled to learn from clients who have different identities than I have personally experienced. I worked with a hotline for runaway youth. I do research around microaggressions, lesbian felt support or rejection, and transgender identity. I have heard from clients I work with who have experienced complex trauma due to abuse, assault, and gun violence. I have worked with clients who had their families ripped apart due to the prison-industrial complex. I am a part of societal movements for equality and acceptance.
