About My Clients
Do you have trouble saying whatโs on your mind or sharing how you truly feel? Perhaps you want to protect those around you from the pain you are experiencing, or you fear they will judge you. You may even find that you are judging yourself. This may lead to hiding, not only your pain, but the behaviors you have been using to distract yourself from it or to manage it. It is possible to develop healthier ways of thinking about yourself and to find manageable reactions to events in your life!
My Background and Approach
I believe with practice it is possible to learn, adjust and heal. I became a therapist to provide a space for people to share their true thoughts and feelings, free from judgment. While living in Paris, France, for almost 8 years, I worked primarily with immigrant adults and families. I learned how important it is to be able to communicate and adjust to change. I believe being heard and feeling understood is central to our well-being and can lead to healing from the harmful effects of past events or relationships. Upon returning to Chicago I provided individual and group therapy to immigrant children and youth, helping them to express themselves in a safe space. I believe when we are able to articulate our thoughts and feelings, it is possible to not only heal, but thrive. In turn, our relationships, both with ourselves and others, improve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that when provided with a space to share our true thoughts and feelings, free from judgement, we can heal from the harmful effects of past events or relationships. Having lived in Paris, France, for almost 8 years, while working primarily with immigrant adults and families, I became attuned to the importance of effective communication. I hold a Master of Arts degree from The University of Chicagoโs School of Social Service Administration with a concentration in Clinical Social Work. Tailored to your needs, my therapeutic approach is eclectic and informed by Strengths-based practice, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Relational therapy, as well as Mindfulness. I am bilingual and provide therapy in both English and French.
