Parenting can have its challenges at any stage in a child's/teen's development. I help parents gain insight into developmental facets and how to work with their child's developmental stage. I provide psychoeducation, behavior management strategies, communication skills, and emotion regulation techniques. I enjoy helping parents feel empowered, more connected to their child/teen, and help them learn tools/strategies they will carry with them onward.
Through play and creativity, I help children learn strategies and tools to better manage their emotions, increase their ability to communicate with others, help them develop insight/awareness to their feelings/struggles, and give them a safe and accepting space to learn more about themselves. I work with a variety of child issues, and I am most passionate about anxiety, peer relationships, ADHD symptoms, and emotion regulation difficulties.
With authenticity and humor, I help adolescents feel empowered in their therapy process. I enjoy helping teens find ways to better manage their emotions, increase their ability to communicate with others, help them develop insight/awareness to their feelings/struggles, and give them a safe and accepting space to develop their identity. I am passionate about peer relationship difficulties, social anxiety, depression, and self-harm urges in working with adolescents.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change unhelpful thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions. CBT focuses on changing the unhelpful thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and anxiety. Through CBT, these thoughts are identified, challenged, and replaced with more helpful thoughts.
I use a non-adherent DBT approach that derived from is an evidence-based treatment created by Dr. Marsha Linehan. Originally created for the treatment of borderline personality disorder--DBT can be applied to treat chronic depression, anxiety disorders, and self-harm behaviors. It includes four facets of treatment: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.
Humanistic therapy adopts a holistic approach that focuses on free will, human potential, and self-discovery. It aims to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths. I use empathy in order to relate to your experiences. I also seek to provide unconditional positive regard where I strive to be supportive and non-judgmental.
