About My Clients

Depression and anxiety are just two weights that trap us in unproductive patterns of hopelessness, self-sabotage and sometimes rage. My focus is on your mental healthcare needs and how to break these oppressive chains off of you through cognitive behavioral skill building , self-awareness and by overcoming your negative thoughts and emotions. I look forward to teaching you the tools you will need to get back on top and out from under the oppression.

My Background and Approach

My proven approach to counseling, incorporates humor and various creative forms of media to make therapy a fun, rich experience in helping clients break free from addictive behavior, maximize problem solving skills, build harmonious relationships in marriage and family, develop self-value, alleviate depression, and restore peace of mind from anxiety and anger. I have extensive training in CBT through the Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy as well as previous licensure in Substance Abuse Counseling. My experience has included work at Womack Medical Center helping clients with, suicidal/homicidal intent, sexual abuse, domestic conflict and PTSD as well as at Cape Fear Valley Health. Military family life is also well known to me being a military spouse myself. I am familiar with the joys as well as the battle scars that army life leaves us with. Please know that you can heal and be free, just don't go it alone. Allow me to assist you, to be your battle buddy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Even your healthcare needs are familiar to me as I have worked in the health care system - Endocrinology, kidney dialysis and at Womack Medical Center helping clients with trauma, suicidal intent, sexual abuse, domestic conflict and PTSD. I am afforded these diverse fields of knowledge and skill base through my life as a military spouse and mother for over 31 years. My compassion is for marriages, those devastated by divorce and people who are in the pains of depression. I am a licensed Minister through CHARIS Bible College (Raleigh/Durham Extension) and lovingly embrace all people, knowing that we are all struggling with issues common to all peoples groups. Through my own therapy, I learned how to handle my depression and how to move forward, no longer trapped in emotional turmoil. When I'm not at work, I am busy enjoying time with my husband, or teaming up with my bowling league, engaging in weekly swim aerobics or walking the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach and Wilmington.

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Buddhism
  • Christianity
  • Judaism
