About My Clients

Has anxiety crept in more than you're used to? Maybe your mood has slipped? Feeling more irritable? Sometimes life circumstances that creep up, a stressful job, a new environment, or even just a big shift in our lives leaves us feeling stuck. I can work with you so that we can better understand the WHY but also work with you to figure out the HOW we get you back on track. Let's get started :)

My Background and Approach

These past 3 years have shown us how chaotic and challenging life can be. To make scheduling easier and more convenient for you, I utilize both telehealth and nature-based, in-person sessions at local parks and nature centers. I draw inspiration from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MB-CT), gestalt, solution-focused, reality therapy, and client-centered approaches. My process creates an opportunity for us to tailor our approach to your needs. Prior to my current role as therapist in private practice, I was an advisor for the Center for Nature Informed Therapy (CNIT), and as an avid outdoorsman, I founded an outdoor recreation group responsible for organizing 100+ backpacking trips and day hikes in the Baltimore/Washington region. Previously, I also served as an REI classroom instructor, researcher under the UMB School of Psychiatry, and psychotherapist in a community mental health setting. I also draw from prior training from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The outdoors have been a source of wonder, restoration, and healing since the beginning of our species. Over time, if unchecked, we become more and more distant from this environment. Whether due to loss of connection to nature, diminished access to the outdoors, the hectic-ness of our days, or otherwise, we risk losing out on a these gifts. Stemming from mountains of research, we know that nature offers us significant physiological and psychological benefits. My philosophy is "why not integrate nature and the therapy?" I am passionate about using experiential practices such as ecotherapy, mindfulness, and moment-by-moment experiences to facilitate healing within the therapeutic process. ***Openings available for day-time appointments Tuesday through Friday. I accept self-pay, CareFirst/BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare/UHC, Johns Hopkins EHP, and can provide superbills for out-of-network benefits.***
