About My Clients
I welcome all the things about you and your experiences that make you unique and brought you to where you are today. Some of that, you may be immensely proud of, and other parts you may spend a lot of energy trying to hide. I welcome all of you here. I offer counseling to individuals and partners to help navigate places in your life that are causing you pain, and to support you in living your most a authentic life. Some specializations include relationships, sex therapy, shame and anxiety.
My Background and Approach
My approach to working with clients is somatic, holistic and experiential. This means our work together is not just sitting and talking about what has been or how you want things to be. Working holistically means I recognize the connection between, mind, body and spirit and that working in any one of these realms means were working on all of them. We will explore the wisdom of your body as a gateway to your emotions and the wealth of information about yourself that sometimes the mind can obscure. My work is informed by training in Hakomi; a somatic and mindfulness approach to psychotherapy, attachment theory, person-centered psychotherapy and feminist therapy. My work with couples is influenced by my training in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Feel free to ask me more about any of these approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in your innate wisdom and ability to heal. The healing journey can be messy, it can be difficult and it doesn’t always follow the timeline you expect. I believe we all have a whole self within us that just needs to be fully listened to and authentically expressed. We seldom heal alone. We humans need connection. It can be easy to get lost in the dark places of our psyche when we are there all alone. Therapy can be a place to have someone there with you, someone who remembers you are more than your pain and your struggles. I know this through my studies, and through my work with clients, but also through my own healing journey.
