About My Clients

My clients are people whose body and mind are reacting from stress, depression, anxiety, or trauma due to coditions/situations that may/may not be changeable and who feels not aligned with true selves. You are looking for a safe space to explore and express your authentic self without judgement/prejudice/discrimination. You want to have education about your struggle, learn healthy coping skills, evaluate what you want to be and take actions that are “right” for you to live in a full life.

My Background and Approach

I would like you to share your background including your challenges to collect and connect your "dots." Then I assist you to examine your current coping skills and emotion-triggering patterns. After that, I introduce you healthy and effective coping skills, explore any obstacles to practice them and encourage you to keep trying. I do expect you to be a team with me even outside of sessions with your commitment to change. Psychoeducation is an importance piece to understand how your sufferings occur, and I occasionally provide you short readings to enhance your knowledge about your patterns. I also explore your values, strengths, accomplishments, and interests. Those are integral parts of you for your recovery. They tend to be minimized or even ignored when you are struggling. Especially values are considered to be your inner compass to guide you to be who you really are. My ultimate goal for you is to be your own therapist/counselor with self-compassion and respect.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe everyone should be treated with empathy, compassion and respect. You will not be judged for being who you are in my space. Being part of so-called marginalized communities as a female, an Asian, an immigrant whose English isn’t the first language, and a member of a bicultural family, I’m drawn to vulnerable populations. I enjoy working with LGBTQ+ people and am listed on a local LGBTQ+ organization’s resource. Most of my clients hold one or more of minority status. Aging adults, people with chronic medical conditions and caregivers are also my special people. I obtained Geriatric Mental Health Specialist certification by the state (requires extra knowledge of medical issues, grief, dementia etc.) and focused on the populations for many years. They also tend to be marginalized. I want to give them a place to be validated and supported. Since I believe in healthcare/social services, I worked in the settings for 15 years. Hence I relate well with like-minded people.
