I guide and teach you the skills of connection, and help you gain insights about what is the key source of relationship pain.
My Background and Approach
I have an extensive background in relationship counseling, am an Advanced Certified Imago Clinician, and EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique- tapping ) Practitioner. I’ve taken over 85 hours of sex therapy coursework and I am an LGBTQ-ally. I additionally have over 25 years experience in medical social work helping disabled populations, chronically and terminally ill clients. I hold a firm belief in our inherent ability to heal in our relationships and that we have tools within us and simply need reminders, coaching and guidance to access self-healing. Relationships hold within their structure the innate potential for repair and wholeness, and especially those we choose ( such as marital and romantic partners ). The sparks of attraction were partly ignited because of this healing potential as our subconscious recognized this unseen and unopened gift. With Imago tools I can help you unwrap this hidden gift.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My beliefs in the healing power of relationships developed over a lifetime noticing that most of my own challenges and pain stemmed from unfulfilling and imbalanced relationships. What was lacking, and which took years to fully articulate and recognize , was the idea of partners cherishing relationships with focus and intention. When we treat a relationship with respect and intention we take very good care of it. When we treat it casually and behave in ways that may sabotage it- such as being sarcastic, dismissive, unkind and unpredictable- our partners do not feel safe within the relationship. We learn about how to show up in relationships through early childhood and socialization. Relationship science and health is not ( yet! ) taught in schools. So much of my work involves helping people have intentional relationships. That skill alone affects not only the relationship at hand but all others AND the lifelong one we have with ourselves.
