About My Clients
My clients have typically endured grief, crises, and/or somatic symptoms that may be associated with reactions to trauma. With my clients, we tend to explore how the brain and mind function together when we experience intense emotions. In addition, we may focus on self-compassion, stress reduction, self-talk and personal stories, and cultural context related to the presenting concerns.
My Background and Approach
Each client is different, thus my sessions are always client-centered. I also approach counseling sessions via a combination of evidenced-practices for a given issue with techniques derived from a variety of psychological theories. I believe this allows me to better work with clients in a way that’s more intentional and specific to him/her/them. Clients who also would like more active, outdoor sessions are also very welcome if you're in Cincinnati! Therapy is a process I want each of my clients to feel fulfilled by and an equal expert in, to help address what brings them to our shared space. I know personally that feeling safe in the therapeutic process is crucial for personal growth and self-exploration. I hope to provide that to my clients and readily accept feedback in our work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In addition to being a therapist, I'm a mother and outdoor enthusiast. The combination of nature and physical activity has such healing qualities, which is precisely why I wanted to incorporate both into my private practice. What better way to connect to your own spirituality than by sitting next to, and looking up at, a tree? What better way to feel connected to others than by hiking on a trail that spans miles and miles? And what better way to feel empowered than to challenge one's self in the microcosm of therapy? Because if nothing else, it takes absolute courage to enter into a relationship where you're expected to be vulnerable. The great news, is that nature is patient. And in the therapeutic process, so am I. Your pace and needs set the precedent. I'm just humbled to be part of the journey.
