About My Clients

In a world where we are expected/forced/coerced to fragment ourselves, therapy can be a place to bring your whole self. Are the judgmental parts of you too loud and overwhelming? With a loving curiosity, I can support you in approaching your life with more compassion. Are parts of you unsure and anxious? I hear you. Would you like more space and choice in you life? Our time together can be a space to dream, imagine and move with more intention; reminding you of your needs, goals and values.

My Background and Approach

As a queer-identified, able-bodied and cis-gendered woman with class and race privilege, I prioritize naming how social locations shape the ways we move and show up in our lives. Together we can go deeper, demystifying and getting at the roots of abusive systems (institutions/values/behaviors) towards acting on empowering stances. In collaboration, we will honor how you have gotten to this moment. The way I integrate my somatic orientation into our work will reflect our unique connection. I may ask you to bring your attention to a movement or gesture or invite you to be curious about a sensation or feeling you’re having in the moment. My approach is a mosaic of practices, studies and models which reflect my ever-evolving stance on just how healing happens. Specifically, my practice is informed by Sensorimotor Psychotherpapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, attachment theory, Motivation Interviewing, Harm Reduction, mindfulness and theories and methods of Ethnic and Women's Studies.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It was at a gathering designed to embody the radical imagination of the Left, the U.S. Social Forum in 2010, that I began my journey to becoming a somatic psychotherapist. Inspired by a workshop led by Generative Somatics, I deeply felt the connections between interpersonal and systemic healing and transformation. Over the past 20 years, I have dreamed of and worked towards creating a vision and practice rooted in care, consideration and compassion. I take an intersectional approach to both social justice and healing. Everything is connected. Fighting for affordable housing is inseparable from abolishing white privilege. Ending police terrorism and gendered-based violence are interrelated. Trauma is intergenerational; we are not separate from those who came before us. Knowing our history shapes how we know ourselves and one another. Most importantly, we have the capacity to change. In our healing journey together, you can bring new beliefs and actions into existence.
