About My Clients

"You just don't get it" - a common phrase that many of my clients have stated to family/friends. My experience with working with adolescents and teens is an essential part of my practice. I have experience with depression, suicidal ideations/behaviors, managing anger, behavioral issues, anxiety, self harm, sexual identity problems, bullying, TRAUMA and abuse, career and educational choices, adjustment concerns, self-esteem issues, borderline personality, and an array of related problems.

My Background and Approach

I have a B.A. in Psychology, a M.S. in Counseling Psychology, a Doctoral-Level Marriage and Family certificate in Family Therapy, and am currently working on a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I previously held the position as a school based therapist team leader for an entire county in Tennessee! I also have extensive work as a trauma therapist for clients who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or any other traumatic experiences. I am not a "and how does that make you feel" cliche therapist. My goal is to assist you or your loved one in overcoming challenges and viewing things from a different perspective. In my sessions, the client is the expert. There is no one that knows what works and does not work for you better than YOU! We will work as a team as you work diligently toward your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

"Most of us have far more courage than we ever dreamed we possessed"-Dale Carnegie. I strongly believe that we are capable of things that are beyond our wildest imaginations. The brain is so powerful that it can protect us without us even knowing it. It can influence our behaviors, interpersonal relationships, words that we speak, thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. Here's what brought me to the field. A close family member of mine was sexually assaulted for years as a child. I was there when she finally revealed what was happening and was with her at her first therapy appointment. I was amazed at how the therapist was able to get her to open up about her trauma, without making her feel uncomfortable or even asking direct questions about it. I left the room that day knowing that I wanted to spend the rest of my life helping people to get better. I realized the power of words and compassion. You are enough. You matter. You are AMAZING! LET'S DO THIS!
