Premarital counseling can help you, as a couple, improve your relationship before marriage. Premarital counseling helps you improve your ability to communicate, set realistic expectations for marriage, and develop conflict-resolution skills. It can also help you establish a positive attitude about seeking help down the road. I support couples in paving their way to a fulfilling marriage.
Expressing tenderness and being emotionally open are important to nurturing healthy relationships with those around you, yet few men feel comfortable doing this. Often, anxiety, depression, anger, impatience, lack of confidence, and life and work stress get in the way. I help and support men in stepping over these hurdles and improving their relationships.
Every relationship has its ups and downs. Sometimes, these ups and downs become a habit, and it may be difficult to remember why you are together, or even doubt that you want to stay together. Getting help in couples counseling can give you and your partner the skills and support you need to feel seen, heard, and understood in the relationship. I help and support couples in getting to this point.
Trauma is often overlooked and not dealt with, and it is often disguised as depression, anxiety, isolation or acting out behavior. Some experiences resulting in trauma involve abuse as a child or adult. Other experiences involve automobile and other accidents, losses related to divorce, immigration, and the passing of family and friends. I work with clients to resolve and heal from powerful traumatic early and recent experiences.
Premarital counseling can help you, as a couple, prepare your relationship for marriage. In premarital counseling I work with clients to improve their ability to communicate, set realistic expectations for marriage, and develop conflict-resolution skills.
I work with couples that have experienced infidelity and want to work on rebuilding their relationship. You don't have to be in the midst of a crisis to seek out help. Couples therapy is helpful for many couples whether dating, living together, or maintaining a long-distance relationship. Some typical issues addressed in couples therapy are infidelity, chronic illness, sex, anger, communication problems, child rearing, finances, substance abuse, and cross-cultural issues.
Being a woman can be hard enough. Add balancing work, family, school, care-taking for an ailing parent, and being you may feel impossible. I support women in feeling more grounded, less stressed out, and more present in their lives and their relationships.
