I have worked with clients of diverse backgrounds for over 10 years and understand that no one is immune to suffering and everyone experiences pain as well as triumphs. I believe people are resilient and deserving of happiness. I work with adults, adolescents, couples, and families and treat presenting concerns, such as: depression, anxiety, personality disorders, anger management, difficulties with emotion regulation, grief/bereavement, trauma, and difficulties in relationships.
My Background and Approach
Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to-someone with whom we can share our innermost thoughts, feelings, and concerns. My mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to tell their stories while also establishing goals and solutions to provide the skills and confidence needed to move through challenges life presents. It is imperative for clients to be genuinely heard and to feel safe and validated as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. I believe that each client with whom I have the honor to work is an expert in their life and my role is to help facilitate a joint process of growth and improved functioning. I utilize an approach that is direct, collaborative, evidence-based, and appreciate the use of humor. I utilize CBT, DBT, EMDR, mindfulness and other skills-based interventions to support learning, symptom management, and behavioral change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe there is a limit to human capacity and unhealthy learned behaviors can be identified and modified or replaced with healthier behaviors. I believe in honoring the uniqueness of each person by tailoring treatment to meet individual client needs. My approach is focused, creative, and non-judgmental. I strive to make each session together count. I will help you draw upon your strengths to overcome personal barriers to happiness and create more loving relationships.
