Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Austin, TX
Trauma and stress and unresolved emotions store in the body so it's important for everyone to have a practical understanding and powerful tools to condition themselves to feel vibrationally safe experiences and allow that life force we call energy to flow. The framework I share is TRE® (trauma and tension releasing exercise and incorporate vocal toning, breathwork, and movement as appropriate.
I am a level II Gottman informed therapist. This frame is nested in 40 years of legit af research about relationships. It demonstrates that the healthiest of couples and any form of relationship will disagree. The successful ones dance the dance better and focus on choices instead of berating. There are many techniques and skills to draw from this model and really help people move the conversation past being stuck in the same argument and getting to a resolution or dancing the dance better.
So many clients love Richard Schwartz Internal Family Systems model. Here clients can observe themselves as having parts of themselves that create a whole. Have you ever heard yourself think or say, "well, part of me wants this, but then I do something else." Examining ourselves in this way can bring about compassion, acceptance and greater presence to be with both our dark and light natures and learn how to work with instead of against certain parts. One love, I say!
Trauma stores in the body or what I also call the subconscious mind. Developing an intentional relationship with the body can enrich all levels of life and enhance wellbeing. TRE® is the main framework I use and add biodynamic breathwork, vocal toning, and movement as appropriate grounding, centering and integration.
I am a Highly Sensitive Informed Therapist through Dr. Elaine Aron. Trauma can exacerbate heightened sensitivity and oftentimes the cultures that favor strength will unknowingly banish the gifts of a sensitive person into the shadows. Shining light on sensitive skills as strengths and learning how to navigate the world opens doors. We live in a world that needs these gifts to shine!
Chronic conditions can test every aspect of our lives. Through a diagnosis of Type I Diabetes for over 30 years, I do understand. Life and experiences don't always revolve around a diagnosis either. I understand how important it is to be a whole person and not just a label or to give a label too much power. Spiritual and personal transformation can emerge through the acceptance of chronic conditions (even just accepting the chronic condition we call life). I believe we are doing our best.
Attachment theory fundamentally and structurally guides my personal and therapeutic lens of life and embodied living. While it's important to have a logical understanding of the different attachment styles, it's also an empowering skill to visceral experience when we become insecure and disorganized and how to return our systems to a sense of emotional security so we can connect to ourselves and others (especially during tough times and conflict).
I am fully specialized in the areas of C-PTSD, ongoing stress and heightened sensitivity. One of the techniques I share with all clients is TRE® trauma & tension releasing exercise which guides all people to experience our universal shaking and vibrational mechanism which settles the nervous system to we can experience ease, peace, and harmony (and waaaay better sleep).
