I was a group leader and case manager within an inter-professional team at an intensive outpatient program for adults which specialized in treatment for bipolar (2015-2019). While in this program, I also supported children and adolescents seeking inpatient hospital and partial-hospitalization treatment.

I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This modality uses eye movements, mindfulness techniques and positive imagery to process longstanding and/or acute experience of trauma. I am certified in Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network Therapy and will be certified (spring 2023) in Janina Fisher's Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) Model. Both of these models were created to help individuals manage complex trauma . Both models are also helpful for many kinds of challenges which might bring someone to therapy (depression, anxiety, etc). Prior to becoming a therapist I worked in the performing arts for over a decade. Because of this, I am familiar with the unique struggles of artists/creatives. I also enjoy bringing in elements of creative expression, when appropriate, through expressive therapy, with all my clients to varying degrees. Who said therapy has to be just sitting and talking?

I have studied vipassana style mindfulness since around 2012. I enjoy bringing in elements of this work with clients at times. This might look like leading a guided meditation, or stitching in Neff's work with self -compassion. When teaching mindfulness, I typically acknowledge the cultural origins of this style of practice. Clients do not need to have a formal mindfulness practice to benefit from these interventions, however.

I regularly incorporate DBT into my work with clients. I worked at a clinic for many years specializing in DBT. While there, I completed specialized training in this area. While I am not certified in DBT, I feel competent working with clients who have completed DBT programs and appreciate the concrete nature of these skills to help clients better understand how to better understand emotion regulation, strengthen distress tolerance, and enrich interpersonal effectiveness.
