About My Clients
Have you thought about taking your life because that seems easier than facing another day? Or maybe you have found yourself thinking about ways that you can hurt yourself? If you find yourself saying “yes” or nodding; these are scary emotions, thoughts, and feelings you are experiencing. It is hard enough to admit that you are having these experiences let alone finding someone you trust enough to say it out loud to. I would be honored to be that person.
My Background and Approach
You are here today because you want to have a fulfilling life. Experiencing joy without feeling like your emotions are constantly beating you down; I will help you get there. We will shine a light into the darkness to uncover what will give your life a feeling of purpose, excitement, belonging, and peace. We will create a plan to build the life you envision for yourself, and I will guide and support you each step of the way. When we are done working together you will have lifelong skills to face life head on with confidence. It can feel especially hard to talk to a counselor about thoughts of suicide and self-harm, because you may fear that you will be forced to go to in-patient treatment. It is always my goal to keep you out of in-patient facility and safe where you feel most comfortable, at home. We do this by using the evidence-based treatment of CAMS (The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality). This model of treatment has us working TOGETHER to keep you safe.
Why I Became a Therapist
Our experiences shape who we are but trauma and anxieties can also leave us feeling lost, stuck, alone, and hopeless. Six years ago my shower curtain needed to be positioned “just so” and an inch out of place would send me to tears. My anxieties felt like they were in control and I found myself leaving the home less and less; and questioning whether tomorrow was worth living. A compassionate counselor helped me work through my trauma and build the skills to build a life worth living, and that is what I will help you do too. Because of my own experiences I understand how hard it is to ask for help when you are having thoughts about suicide and/or self-harming. I understand how much shame and guilt can come from having thoughts of suicide and/or self-harming. I became a therapist to help others find their reasons for wanting to get out of bed everyday, and to create a safe/non-judgmental space for you to heal.
