CBT is amazing and being able to address in a very concrete manner how our thought process and our behaviors affect our mental health. We are able to work through very specific behavior changes or challenge specific thinking which will change how we interact and what we believe in the future.
I offer DBT therapy individually and in groups (for teens and adults). DBT is amazing to be able to approach any challenge in a mindful manner. This approach addresses the need to connect mind and body health as well as understand how to cope in a health manner when we are experiencing emotional instability. DBT also teaches us about our emotional vulnerabilities and communication skills and how to handle them in the best way to protect our relationships.
I love working with couples before they decide to get married. This is a great time to approach couples therapy proactively and work through some of the challenges that the couple will go through throughout their marriage.
I would say about 60% of my caseload is working with adolescents and young adults. I get the stress and overwhelming day to day challenges that you have to experience at this age and work to address these and listen to understand your day to day life. There seems to be always something going on during this period of your life and my goal is to help you get through these years with the least amount of depression and anxiety as we can. Work to help you understand and teach coping skills to deal with the challenges that you are presented with.
I have specialized in working with severe depression and suicidal ideation for the last 5 years. I work with individuals as well as do group DBT therapy to address these challenges. I have an intensive treatment program that I offer that provides you the flexibility of attending counseling individually and/or in group up to 4 times per week or adjusted down to whatever your particular needs are. My goal is to help keep you stable and do what we can to prevent you from ever needing in patient care.
I work to create an environment of understanding and having a positive relationship with your body and your mind together, mental and physical health as one. Self esteem and confidence are often what suffer when we are challenged with negative body image and our mental and physical health decline. I work with a team of health related individuals to address all of these issues as well as working with you one on one or in a group formate to address the underlying beliefs that have formed a poor relationship with you and your body.
