Relational psychotherapy is founded on relationships with others being an essential aspect of emotional well-being. Individuals who find it difficult to maintain supportive and healthy relationships may experience a sense of disconnection, diminished self-worth, and general distress. By helping individuals recognize the role relationships play in daily experiences, it helps people understand patterns appearing in the thoughts and feelings they have toward themselves and others.

Emotion-focused therapy is based on the idea that emotions are not the only important factors in our lives but the key to who we are. I aim to help individuals approach, accept, tolerate, and symbolize emotions rather than avoid them. Through understanding comes healing and growth.

As a psychologist, I have worked with individuals seeking help to process and move through traumatic experiences, whether a single traumatic event or a complex presentation of several traumatic expereinces. It is essential to provide safety and security when navigating these challenges.

In the aftermath of experiencing sexual assault or abuse, individuals face many challenges ranging from physical harm to psychological trauma. I focused my dissertation research on issues surrounding sexual violence and blame toward abuse victims. My ultimate goal is to help individuals overcome their trauma and thrive in adversity.

Women may experience particular biological, environmental, and psychosocial challenges related to gender, and these concerns can significantly impact mental health and well-being. These concerns might be related to gender stereotyping or assumptions and women's health. I maintain an awareness of the various social and cultural constraints women may experience and the historical context of women's issues.
